News from Abernathy- Thursday 5th November
Today the weather is cold but dry. Two of our groups have been off on a Forest Adventure this morning and other groups have been doing canoeing, archery and silver maze ( a problem solving course that the children do in their activity groups).
Katie Gordon and Hannah Burton had great fun in their canoe until it capsized and they ended up soaking wet and giggling all the way back to the main house. Hannah has permanently lost one of her welly boots which is now at the bottom of the pond!
Erin Buchan led everyone blindfold through the silver maze assault course and she did the splits down the ramp( by mistake) but her instructions were good and she got her team safely home. Rosie won the grid challenge for her team on the silver maze by navigating across the grid correctly and then showed her leaderships skills by getting the rest of her team over too.
Andrew turned his coat inside out to successfully camouflage himself on the forest work this morning and his group made boats from reeds and leaves.
Ellis took on a leadership role on the silver maze to pump water up a hill. She led her team to victory and got the task completed because she was so strong!
Campfire and songs tonight and hopefully a sausage sizzle if the weather is dry then we are having our “wide” games- activities in the dark. 5 of the staff are hiding with whistles and the children have to find them using torches and their good listening skills. The winning team is the one which is able to collect a token from each of the five staff members!
