Knights of Rights are the committee who champion rights throughout the school.
We have embedded the language of rights into our classrooms through the use of class charters. We recognise that rights are inherent and inalienable, by being a child in Scotland (up to the age of 18), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), applies to us.
We learn that rights are things we need and knowing them helps us to become active, healthy, global citizens. There are 4 categories of Rights: Survival, Development, Participation and Protection.
Treating others well helps them to also enjoy their rights. We are encouraged to use good manners around the school, saying please and thank you, holding doors open for others, passing a compliment etc. Playing fairly in the playground and including others in our games is another very important way we can show that we want everyone to enjoy their rights.
