Pupil Parliament meets every few weeks in two sittings (P1-3 and P4-7) to discuss issues concerning everyone in the school. It is an opportunity to think about what is going well and how we can make it better.
We use Edward de Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats to structure the parliament. Each hat symbolises a different aspect of thinking that needs done about a subject.
Blue Hat – thinking about thinking, we consider why we need to think about this issue and how we are going about it
White Hat – the facts, what is happening now/current practice
Red Hat – feelings, acknowledge and discuss the range of emotions that the issue has raised
Yellow Hat – the positives/good points
Black Hat – the negatives/weak points
Green Hat – creative ideas, all ideas are accepted and discussed
Finally, we either vote once we have heard all the arguments or decide the top 3 things we are all going to try as a result of our parliament.
